3. In 1991, the Atlanta Braves won the World Series, defeating the Minnesota Twins in seven games. It was the first and only World Series championship for the Braves during their time in Atlanta.

4. In 1854, the first train arrived in Atlanta, marking the beginning of the city's transformation into an important transportation hub for the South.

5. In 1975, Georgia governor Jimmy Carter announced that he would be running for president of the United States in the 1976 election. Carter would go on to win the election and serve as president from 1977 to 1981.
