2. In 1868, the Cincinnati Red Stockings, the first professional baseball team, played their first game. The team went on to win 130 consecutive games and became one of the most successful teams of the 19th century.

3. In 1890, the Dayton and Xenia Railway opened the first electric interurban railway in Ohio. The railway connected the cities of Dayton and Xenia, and eventually extended to Cincinnati, Columbus, and Toledo.

4. In 1957, the first American-built jet airliner, the Boeing 707, was unveiled at the company's plant in Seattle, Washington. Although not directly related to Ohio history, the 707 had a significant impact on the state's aviation industry.

5. In 1976, the Ohio Historical Society opened the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus. The center includes exhibits on Ohio's history, as well as a library and archives with over 1.5 million items related to the state's history.
