Can you tell us about yourself?
"Hi, I'm Aimee Chachere. I am currently an ITS at Richter elementary in Dayton ISD. This is my fourth year at Richter, but this is my 11th year at Dayton ISD."
Why did you start a career in education?
"Started my career in education because I loved children and I wanted to teach. Um, I started as a fifth grade teacher and then I've taught third grade and then I'm now in technology. I love my technology position."
If you could have any other job what would it be and why?
"Like I don't really want to be in a different job right now. Um, if I was, it would be something to still do with technology and education, maybe like just a professional development type of job."
How are kids different now than 30 years ago?
"So kids are way different now than they were 30 years ago. They're just learning differently. We're using technology to learn and that goes along with teaching is different too because of technology."
How is teaching different now than 30 years ago?
"We're constantly learning new technology that we can use in the classroom. I mean, and it's impacting teaching and education altogether."
What would you tell someone who wants to become a teacher?
"If there was somebody asking me about becoming a teacher, I would definitely encourage it. It's a great experience and it's great when you get to see the light bulbs going off for kids, and it's just, you get to make a big impact on children's lives."
What is one thing you would change to help kids learn better?
"And if I could change anything to help kids learn better, it would be to put more devices in their hands to help them, um, have extra technology that they're able to use in the classroom. And that is what I would change. Thank you."
