2. NJ Sheep Farming - On November 2, 1787, John Stevens III began systematically importing merino sheep to New Jersey. In the early 19th century, the state became a major center for sheep farming and wool production, boosted by the new breed of sheep that yielded finer wool than the American varieties.
3. Clara Barton Red Cross - Clara Barton opened the first American Red Cross headquarters in northern New Jersey on November 2, 1881.
